The parents of a University of Idaho student, Kaylee Goncalves, directed strong words towards the murderer following the circulation of leaked crime scene photos that fueled various conspiracy theories.
Recently disclosed crime scene images, totaling 3,000, were unveiled by the Idaho State Police related to the murders. These graphic photos, illustrating signs of struggle, were swiftly removed after being made public.
The pictures captured the horror at a residence near the University of Idaho campus in Moscow, where Bryan Kohberger fatally attacked four students in November 2022. The scenes depicted bloodstains on bed linens, walls, furniture, and personal items. Subsequently, in response to the photo release, Kristi, Kaylee’s mother, took to Facebook to express her sentiments.
In a post on January 30, she wrote, “FU BK!!!!! I wish Steve (Kaylee’s father) could have one minute in that cell with him. One min, that’s all it would take.” The family was informed on January 20 about the impending release of the crime scene photos, as reported by MailOnline.
Following the leak, the family made a heartfelt plea for empathy and discretion from the public. They emphasized that murder is not entertainment, and crime scene images should not be treated as mere content.
Expressing their anguish after the unauthorized disclosure of the images, the family addressed the growing support for conspiracy theories suggesting Kohberger’s innocence. They clarified their decision not to engage in negative interactions but felt compelled to defend the truth when faced with unwarranted defenses of Kaylee’s killer.
Kristi affirmed their unwavering commitment to seeking justice and ensuring the correct individual is held accountable. She reassured, “We would NEVER EVER allow an innocent person to go to prison for taking Kaylee’s life… We are not blind! We are not deaf and we are not stupid either.”
The tragic incident occurred on November 12, 2022, when Kaylee Goncalves, along with Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin, were fatally stabbed in a rental property in Moscow, Idaho. Bryan Kohberger, a criminology student at Washington State University, was linked to the crime through DNA evidence found on a knife sheath at the crime scene.
Kohberger was apprehended on December 30, 2022, and later admitted guilt as part of a plea agreement to avoid capital punishment. In July 2025, he received multiple life sentences for the murders. The motive behind the killings remains undisclosed.
