The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) has issued a statement addressing the composition of the audience at the Saudi Arabia Darts Masters following remarks made by Nathan Aspinall suggesting some attendees were not fully present by their own choice.
The tournament kicked off recently with notable players like Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen, Luke Humphries, and Aspinall competing in the event. Aspinall, after winning his opening match against Lourence Ilagan, shared his thoughts on the event’s ambiance, mentioning a need for improvement in the overall experience.
In response to Aspinall’s comments, the PDC clarified that all spectators present were enthusiastic fans who either purchased tickets or were invited guests. The PDC emphasized the novelty of darts events in the region and acknowledged the varying atmosphere compared to established darts competitions in the UK and Europe.
Reigning world champion Luke Littler also commented on the tournament, noting the quieter environment compared to his usual experience and expressing a desire for a livelier atmosphere. Despite the differences, Littler managed to secure a victory and expressed readiness for future matches.
