A court was told that a physician exclaimed “I’ve had enough of this situation” while allegedly attempting to push his spouse off a steep cliff during a vacation. Gerhardt Konig purportedly tried to kill Arielle Konig, but when he became agitated, bystanders rushed to aid the distressed woman. The prosecution stated that the defendant, an anesthesiologist, took Mrs. Konig, aged 37, on a hike in Oahu, Hawaii. At one point, she declined to ascend the peak due to its height.
Despite her initial refusal, the wife eventually agreed to accompany Konig, who allegedly grabbed her arm and initially tried to assault her with a syringe. Reports indicate that the doctor uttered phrases like “I’m fed up with this situation” and “move back over there” during the altercation. Testifying in Honolulu court, Mrs. Konig recounted the incident, stating that he attempted to pull her towards the cliff, using profane language and threatening her safety.
According to court testimony, a confrontation ensued before a group of hikers intervened on March 24, 2025. Law enforcement was contacted, leading to Konig’s arrest in Oahu. He is currently facing trial for attempted murder and has pleaded not guilty.
The motive behind Konig’s actions has not been disclosed to the jury yet. However, one of the hikers testified that they witnessed the couple, residents of Maui, Hawaii, arguing on the steep cliff. Mrs. Konig described attempting to prevent the attack by discussing their children with him, highlighting the potential consequences of his actions.
Despite her appeals, Konig reportedly remained aggressive, stating that she was no longer needed. Mrs. Konig mentioned trying to reason with him by emphasizing the impact on their children. The trial in Honolulu is ongoing.
