“Plane Crashes Near Somalia Airport, All Passengers Safe”

Date:

A plane crashed in shallow waters shortly after taking off from Aden Adde International Airport in Somalia. The aircraft, operated by StarSky Airlines, encountered technical issues after departing from Runway 23, causing it to descend and land near the airport. Witnesses at Jasiira beach observed the plane flying at a low altitude before it touched down on the shoreline, with its wing visibly detached.

Officials mentioned that the plane tried to return to Mogadishu but veered off the runway during the landing, resulting in the detachment of the right wing from the fuselage. Promptly, rescue teams responded to the crash site to prevent any post-impact fire, ensuring the safe evacuation of all passengers and crew.

The Somali Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the incident occurred outside the airport’s western boundary, with all 55 passengers and crew surviving. An investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the crash. While the airport briefly closed for emergency services to access the crash site, operations have now resumed as usual.
