Police are currently investigating allegations made by Reform UK against the Green Party leader for supposedly encouraging violence through a photo shared on social media. The controversial image, which has since been removed from Zack Polanski’s account, depicted a man in a black T-shirt with the words “We’re only making plans for Nigel” alongside a guillotine.
In response to the backlash, senior minister Pat McFadden emphasized the importance of politicians acting responsibly in their online presence. He highlighted the recent tragic murder of former politician Ann Widdecombe and stressed the need for caution in sharing content on social media platforms.
Nigel Farage criticized Polanski for the image and expressed concerns about its potentially inflammatory nature. Reform UK’s spokesperson for home affairs, Zia Yusuf, accused Polanski of inciting violence and called for police intervention, especially considering the recent tragic events involving Widdecombe.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that they are examining the matter after receiving a report about the image shared on social media. They assured that they are taking the issue seriously and conducting thorough inquiries.
In response to the controversy, the Green Party clarified that Polanski disapproves of the T-shirt image and explained that he had unknowingly accepted a tag in a post containing multiple images. The party emphasized the need for kindness and unity in public discourse to avoid further division.
