“Poll: Americans Find Trump ‘Dangerous’ and ‘Corrupt'”

Date:

Americans are now deep into the second term of President Donald Trump, and they have been polled to provide their opinions on the 47th President of the United States.

The feedback on the US President is not favorable, with the most commonly used adjective being “dangerous” among Americans. Additional terms used to describe him in a recent YouGov survey included “corrupt” (49%), “racist” (45%), and “out-of-touch”.

Despite the negative sentiments, there were also positive words used to portray Trump, particularly from Republican voters. Positive terms such as “honest” (45%), “inspiring” (40%), and “intelligent” (38%) were utilized.

In contrast, Democrats tended to use less flattering terms to describe the President, as indicated by the data.

The latest polling data from YouGov reflects a decline in Trump’s approval rating. His net approval rating currently stands at negative 24 percent, lower than previous points in both his first term and the final term of his Democratic rival, Joe Biden.

Trump’s second term has been marked by controversies, including issues with the release of the Epstein files, immigration policies leading to criticisms of ICE tactics, and an unpopular war with Iran impacting global living costs.

Specifically, the polls show that 54% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of immigration, while 54% also disapprove of his approach to race relations. On crime, 49% disapprove, but this is countered by a 41% approval rating.

Trump has highlighted his achievements, citing a notable drop in murder rates during his tenure. Although this claim is supported by records, the comparison to 1900 is disputed due to data standardization issues before 1960.

Despite the crime statistics, negative public opinion of Trump could adversely affect Republican prospects in the upcoming midterm elections. History suggests that the party in power usually loses seats during midterm elections, and this trend could be exacerbated by current sentiments.

CNN’s Chief Data Analyst has noted a narrower lead for Democrats in recent polling for the House, signaling a potential shift in momentum against the current administration.

The data suggests a warning for Republicans, indicating a challenging path ahead due to the growing dissatisfaction with the current President.
