A woman who previously had a romantic involvement with Prince Harry was taken into custody for allegedly departing a hotel in Majorca without settling a bill amounting to nearly £450.
Catherine Ommanney, aged 53, a reality TV personality, was apprehended yesterday on suspicion of committing fraud after the hotel manager reported the incident to the authorities. She was accused of leaving the Playas del Rey Hotel, a three-star establishment in the popular Santa Ponsa resort near Magaluf, without paying a bill of over €500 (£434) for a nine-day stay.
Law enforcement sources confirmed the arrest. Catherine, who claimed to have had intimate encounters with Harry when he was 21 and she was 34, made an appearance before a judge in Palma, the capital of Majorca, later that evening.
Following an ongoing investigation, she was released on bail. Local newspaper Ultima Hora disclosed that Catherine, an interior designer and one of the original cast members of the Real Housewives of DC, had secured her hotel reservation using a card that had insufficient funds.
It remains uncertain whether she presented a statement in court or provided an explanation for the incident. Catherine was seen exiting a court cell escorted by a Civil Guard officer around 7 pm to attend a closed-door hearing.
She declined to comment after being released. The exact location of her arrest is yet to be confirmed. In November 2022, Catherine disclosed details about a two-month relationship she had with Harry in 2006, emphasizing that she did not expect it to be included in his memoir.
Describing their time together, she mentioned Harry’s confidence and gentlemanly demeanor. Catherine expressed her belief that Harry sought a deeper connection due to her maturity compared to younger women around him at the time.
The relationship between Catherine and Harry eventually faded away, with the two remaining on friendly terms during a chance encounter in 2009. A spokesperson for the Civil Guard reported that she was arrested for allegedly defrauding a hotel in Santa Ponsa by leaving without settling her dues.
Reports indicate that she stayed at the Playas del Rey Hotel from January 2 to 11, with a bill totaling around 550 Euros (£475). Catherine, an interior designer, was reportedly arrested under a previous surname used due to a prior marriage.
In response to the news of her arrest, Catherine claimed that the bill had been paid and vowed to address the situation through legal channels. The hotel receptionist declined to comment on the matter as the manager was unavailable for media inquiries.
Efforts to obtain an update from court officials regarding the resolution of the case and the status of the investigation are pending.
