A psychologist has expressed concern about the noticeable decline in the behavior of US President Donald Trump, particularly after issuing a series of aggressive threats towards Iran on social media.
Tensions among the US, Israel, and Iran have been escalating since February 28 when joint strikes were carried out on key Iranian targets, triggering retaliatory attacks by Iran across the Middle East, causing turmoil in the region.
Dr. John Gartner, a psychologist and former Johns Hopkins University professor, stated during a live stream on The Daily Beast Podcast that Trump has been displaying symptoms of frontotemporal dementia since 2019. Gartner emphasized that Trump’s deterioration has accelerated rapidly, with him being notably different from just four weeks ago.
Gartner explained that individuals with frontotemporal dementia often lose their judgment, inhibition, and ability to control their behavior, leading to disinhibition and aggressiveness. He highlighted a profanity-laden post on Truth Social by Trump on Easter Sunday, where he threatened to target civilian infrastructure in Iran.
In the controversial post on April 5, Trump indicated plans for actions against Iran’s power plants and bridges. Gartner pointed out that frontotemporal dementia mainly affects behavior rather than memory.
This is not the first time medical professionals have raised concerns about Trump’s mental state. MSNBC medical analyst Dr. Vin Gupta also noted signs of dementia in Trump, citing erratic behavior, difficulty in expressing thoughts, and gradual cognitive decline.
When approached for comment, the White House did not provide an official statement regarding the president’s health status.
