“Pub Patrons Stop Gunman with Bar Stool in Dublin”

Date:

A masked gunman entered a pub in West Dublin last night, but patrons bravely intervened to prevent him from firing any shots. Gardai quickly responded to the incident at The 79 Inn in Ballyfermot after receiving reports of a man brandishing a gun. Pub customers successfully thwarted the man’s attempts to shoot by throwing a bar stool at him.

The intended victim managed to escape while the patrons inside the pub subdued the gunman, who was reportedly wearing a balaclava. The gunman then fled the scene as police officers hurried to the location. The altercation is believed to have stemmed from a verbal dispute earlier in the evening.

Authorities are currently investigating the incident that took place at a licensed establishment in Ballyfermot, Dublin 10, on Saturday, January 10, 2026. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported, and the police are continuing their inquiries, as stated by a garda spokesperson.
