“Putin Optimistic on Ukraine Conflict Resolution, Eyes Peace Deal”

Date:

Vladimir Putin has expressed optimism that the conflict with Ukraine is nearing its conclusion amid ongoing missile and drone attacks from Ukraine. The Russian leader made a rare mention of Volodymyr Zelensky by name and hinted at the possibility of a face-to-face meeting to finalize a peace deal.

Putin has adjusted his approach to ending the conflict following intense hostilities towards the West and Ukraine. His remarks come during a temporary ceasefire facilitated by Donald Trump, prompted by Ukraine’s successful deployment of advanced missiles and drones that inflicted significant damage on Russian targets.

The shift in Putin’s rhetoric coincides with speculation of internal discord within his security circle, including rumors of a coup plot and concerns over his safety. Putin indicated a sense of closure regarding the war he initiated over four years ago, attributing the potential resolution to the West’s failure to deliver a decisive blow to Russia.

In a noteworthy move, Putin mentioned Zelensky by name, signaling a willingness to engage in direct negotiations. He reiterated his willingness to meet either in Moscow or a neutral location to solidify a peace agreement, emphasizing the need for a lasting resolution with historical significance.

Putin stated, “I’m open to a meeting if proposed by the other party, whether in Moscow or a third country, once final agreements on a peace treaty are in place.”
