Vladimir Putin has cautioned Donald Trump about potential severe repercussions in the event of additional US strikes on Iran, as per recent reports.
During a 90-minute phone call on Wednesday, the two leaders discussed the Iran conflict and deliberated on a possible temporary ceasefire in Ukraine.
Putin’s foreign policy advisor conveyed that the Russian president warned Washington of the dangers associated with a potential US ground operation in Iran.
Reports from Russian media indicated that Putin highlighted the expectation of “extremely harmful consequences” if the US and Israel were to launch another attack on Iran, labeling any ground operation or invasion as “highly perilous and unacceptable.”
Following the conversation, Trump remarked positively, stating, “We had a very good conversation, I’ve known him a long time.”
He mentioned that Putin suggested relocating Iran’s buried uranium to Russia, but Trump expressed a preference for the Russian leader to assist in resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
“I said, before you help me, I want to end your war,” Trump stated.
The American president, known for his camaraderie with the Russian leader, expressed confidence in finding a swift resolution to the Ukraine conflict.
Trump also disclosed that he proposed a partial ceasefire and hinted at the possibility of Putin accepting it.
Moreover, Trump insinuated, as he has done previously, that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy bore some responsibility for the lack of a peace agreement. A Russian official disclosed that discussions between the two leaders included a potential short-term ceasefire in Ukraine coinciding with the upcoming anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
A similar initiative was proposed last year but did not come to fruition.
These developments followed a significant address by King Charles to Congress, advocating for unwavering support in safeguarding Ukraine and its citizens.
