“Royal Family Grows with New Members at Easter Service”

Date:

The Royal Family welcomed two new members as they attended the traditional Easter Sunday service together. Senior members of the royal household, including the Prince and Princess of Wales, joined the King and Queen at the Easter Matins service at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle this morning.

Among the attendees were Princess Anne and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, and his son James, the Earl of Wessex. Also present was Anne’s son, Peter Phillips, accompanied for the first time by his soon-to-be wife, Harriet Sperling, and her daughter Georgina.

Peter and Harriet, dressed elegantly, walked to St George’s Chapel alongside other royals, including William and Kate. Following the service, they walked back to the castle hand-in-hand with their daughters.

Peter, the King’s oldest nephew, and NHS nurse Harriet are set to marry on June 6 in a private ceremony at All Saints Church, Kemble in Cirencester. Peter, who is 19th in line to the throne, was previously married to Autumn Kelly and has two daughters with her. Harriet, a pediatric nurse, has a teenage daughter named Georgia from a previous marriage.

Harriet, originally from Gloucestershire, has openly shared about finding comfort in her Christian faith as a single parent. Last year, the couple made their public debut at Royal Ascot, and shortly after, announced their engagement with a stunning diamond ring.

Today, crowds gathered outside the castle to catch a glimpse of the royals. The King and Queen arrived to cheers from onlookers. Following the service, the Queen received flowers from a young boy, Kit Bannan, amidst applause from the crowd. Attendees expressed their joy at seeing the royal family, with some traveling from various places to attend.

The Waleses missed the service in previous years due to family commitments, and notable interactions during the event included the King reminiscing about Hungary and receiving gratitude for his support of the Jewish community. The Waleses and their children waved to the crowds post-service, receiving warm wishes for Easter.
