A member of the Royal Horse Artillery passed away after a horseback incident at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, according to Thames Valley Police. The authorities are seeking information regarding the incident, which has been classified as an unexplained but non-suspicious death. King Charles was present at the event on Friday and is attending again today.
The soldier fell from their horse around 7 pm after leaving the arena post their performance. Despite immediate medical attention, the soldier tragically succumbed to the injuries on-site. The Royal Windsor Horse Show will proceed as scheduled, but The King’s Troop, Royal Horse Artillery display has been canceled. The event spans over five days.
Chief Superintendent Michael Loebenberg issued a statement urging individuals with any pertinent information on the incident to come forward. He expressed condolences to the soldier’s family and the broader military and Royal Windsor Horse Show community during this challenging period. The police have not identified any suspicious circumstances and are collaborating with the Ministry of Defence, the Defence Accident Investigation Branch, and show organizers HPower to ascertain the cause of the accident.
Jo Peck, HPower Event Director, extended sympathies to the soldier’s family and confirmed that the show will proceed as planned, excluding The King’s Troop, Royal Horse Artillery display. Buckingham Palace reported that The King was deeply saddened by the news and will personally reach out to the family to offer condolences.
