Russia has initiated fresh assaults on Kyiv overnight, marking a period of intense bombardments in the ongoing conflict. Reports indicate that the Kremlin deployed the medium-range hypersonic Oreshnik missile on Bila Tserkva, located 56 miles south of the Ukrainian capital.
Speaking about the Oreshnik strike, Serhiy Sternenko, adviser to Kyiv Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, criticized the use of a nuclear missile without a warhead, describing it as an attempt to intimidate both Ukraine and the global community. Sternenko emphasized the urgent need to end the war and prioritize peace over aggressive actions driven by personal ambitions.
In response to the Russian attacks, NATO fighters were mobilized in Poland as part of the defensive measures. The assault reportedly involved Tu-95MS nuclear-capable bombers, over 50 missiles, and 700 drones, causing casualties and destruction in Ukraine. The aggressive move by Russia was believed to be a retaliatory action following the deaths of students, primarily female, in a Luhansk college dormitory, as claimed by Russian sources.
Ukraine stated that it targeted a military facility responsible for repeated strikes on civilians and civilian infrastructure within the country. The escalating tensions underscore the urgency for peaceful resolutions to prevent further bloodshed and devastation.
