Following a recent Windows 11 update by Microsoft, many Samsung Galaxy Book owners are facing significant issues, with the crucial C drive becoming inaccessible. Users have been encountering an error message that states “C: is not accessible – Access denied,” preventing them from opening files and running certain applications like Microsoft Outlook, Office apps, and specific web browsers.
Some of the affected model numbers include NP750XGJ, NP750XGL, NP754XGJ, NP754XFG, NP754XGK, DM500SGA, DM500TDA, DM500TGA, and DM501SGA.
Microsoft has acknowledged the issue, citing reports of Samsung devices losing access to the C: drive post the installation of the February 2026 security update (KB5077181) and subsequent updates. Users are experiencing difficulties in accessing files and launching applications due to the error message, affecting Outlook, Office apps, web browsers, system utilities, and Quick Assist.
The problem is believed to be related to Samsung’s Galaxy Connect app, which enables screen mirroring, file sharing, and data transfer between Galaxy smartphones and Windows PCs. The app has been temporarily removed from the Windows app store while a solution is being worked on.
Samsung has reintroduced a stable previous version of the application to prevent further installations, but recovery options for already impacted devices are limited. The company is collaborating with Microsoft to assess potential remediation strategies.
The timeline for a fix remains uncertain. Samsung PC owners who have not updated to Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2 are advised to hold off on updating. For those already on these versions, it is recommended to refrain from making any changes until the issue is resolved.
