“Schoolboys Hospitalized After Falling from Bus Window”

Date:

Video footage captured the moment three schoolboys fell from a double-decker bus window.

An investigation is underway after emergency responders were summoned to Bolton Road in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan, yesterday.

The boys, aged two 13-year-olds and a 14-year-old, are currently hospitalized but are reportedly in stable condition after the incident. According to initial police reports, the trio were leaning against the bus window when it abruptly stopped.

A video clip showing the fall has surfaced, depicting the stationary bus waiting for traffic to move, with a silver car and a yellow bus behind it.

In the footage, multiple individuals can be seen falling out of a side window on the upper deck of the blue 950 service just before the bus starts moving again. As they land on the road, the silver car behind the bus carefully maneuvers to avoid the fallen individuals.

Greater Manchester Police has issued an updated statement concerning the incident. A GMP spokesperson stated, “Following the incident where three children fell from a bus in Ashton-in-Makerfield on 7 January, they are currently hospitalized but not in a life-threatening condition.”

“The bus was stationary on Bolton Road when the three children, two aged 13 and one aged 14, fell around 3:50 pm.”

The three boys attended St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic High School nearby. Headteacher Mark Dumican informed parents in a letter that the school is in contact with the boys and providing support to their families, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.

Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham mentioned that the fall seemed to be related to a disturbance on the upper deck. He expressed concern for the young individuals and their families, emphasizing that it was not a Bee Network branded service.

Alison Chew, TfGM’s Interim Network Director for Bus, expressed deep concern over the incident, emphasizing the importance of passenger and staff safety on the Bee Network. They are collaborating with the operator to uncover all details surrounding the event.

A spokesperson for Vision Bus, based in Bolton, stated, “The safety and well-being of all passengers are our top priority at Vision Bus, and we wish a speedy recovery to those involved.”

“We are fully cooperating with Greater Manchester Police (GMP) and other relevant agencies in their investigations into the disturbance on the upper deck. Our thoughts are with all those impacted.”
