Scottie Scheffler Criticizes Masters Course Conditions

Date:

Scottie Scheffler criticized the condition of the Masters course after finishing just one stroke behind Rory McIlroy, who successfully defended his title and became the fourth player to win back-to-back titles at Augusta. Despite trailing McIlroy by 12 shots halfway through the major, Scheffler bounced back with impressive rounds of 65 and 68 over the weekend. However, his second-round score of 74 prevented him from catching the 36-year-old, who now boasts six major titles.

Scheffler expressed frustration with the course setup, particularly noting the softening conditions on Friday that differed from the challenging windy conditions on Thursday. He mentioned that the unequal firmness of the course affected his performance and hindered his chances of winning the tournament.

The golfer questioned the changes made to the greens, claiming they impacted his ability to compete for a third Masters title. While acknowledging the unpredictability of outdoor sports and changing conditions, Scheffler highlighted the missed opportunities on Friday that ultimately impacted his overall performance.

In other news, Sky has enhanced its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle, now offering HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+, and Hayu alongside 135 channels, including full coverage of the Premier League and EFL. Sky broadcasts over 1,400 live matches across various sports, including Formula 1, darts, and golf.

After an 11-year major drought, McIlroy secured his second consecutive major victory, crediting his wife Erica Stoll and daughter Poppy for their support. He expressed gratitude for their backing and humorously mentioned how this tournament had become a favorite for his daughter due to the Par 3 Tournament and unlimited ice cream access.
