Scottie Scheffler has elevated himself into an elite group alongside Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy by surpassing $100 million in career earnings following a commanding victory at The American Express tournament.
Establishing his dominance early in the season, the current world No.1 has signaled to the defending Masters champion that he poses a significant challenge in the upcoming Major tournaments.
Sidelined in January of the previous year due to a hand injury caused by a shattering wine glass while shaping ravioli during the Christmas festivities, Scheffler has made a remarkable comeback in 2026 with a resounding win in California, finishing at 27-under par with a four-shot lead after a stellar six-under 66 final round.
This latest triumph marks Scheffler’s 20th win on the PGA Tour, all achieved within the last four years, securing him a lifetime membership. Notably, nine of these victories have been by a margin of four shots or more.
With his earnings from the recent win totaling $1.656 million, Scheffler’s on-course earnings have now exceeded $101 million, placing him in the exclusive company of Woods and McIlroy as the only players to have crossed the nine-figure mark in PGA Tour earnings before turning 30.
At just 29 years old, Scheffler has also joined the ranks of Woods and Jack Nicklaus as the only players to have secured 20 PGA Tour titles and four major championships before reaching the age of 30.
Reflecting on his accomplishments, Scheffler expressed his gratitude and humility, acknowledging the significance of being mentioned alongside golf legends like Woods and Nicklaus. He attributed his success to his dedication and focus on preparation.
Since his debut victory at the 2022 WM Phoenix Open, Scheffler has clinched 11 more wins than McIlroy, with this latest triumph marking his seventh title in the last 13 stroke-play events.
Moreover, Scheffler’s consistent performance has been evident since his T-20 finish at The Players last March, as he has not placed lower than T-8 in subsequent events.
Commenting on Scheffler’s remarkable consistency, former world No.1 Jason Day acknowledged the American’s impressive performance, likening his achievements to those of Woods while emphasizing the difficulty of maintaining such high standards in competitive golf.
Looking ahead, Scheffler remains optimistic about his future prospects, believing that he can further improve his game despite a slow start in the previous season. As he prepares for the upcoming Masters tournament in April, Scheffler is determined to build on his recent success.
Additionally, the tournament witnessed a standout performance from teenager Blades Brown, who was part of the final group alongside Scheffler and ultimately finished tied for 18th place. Brown expressed his awe at witnessing Scheffler’s victory firsthand, highlighting the surreal experience of competing alongside the golf champion.
