“Serial Killer Fears in Puerto Vallarta”

Date:

Concerns are growing over the possibility of a serial killer being at large in a popular tourist destination following the discovery of three murdered women.

Authorities in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, are meticulously examining evidence and analyzing CCTV footage in the wake of the murders of three women. The first victim was found near Rancho El Piruli viewpoint in Chimborazo on May 10.

Five days later, a second victim was discovered by the roadside along a highway, with the third victim located on a dirt road in the Parque Las Palmas vicinity. All three victims, aged in their early-to-mid 30s, were adorned with tattoos.

The victims remain unidentified and were found in remote areas, with signs of partial undressing.

The most recent victim, reported by The Sun, was discovered with distinguishing tattoos on her neck, hand, and arm, potentially aiding in her identification. These tattoos include images of a skull, a horned woman, and a name.

There are fears that one of the victims may be Elizabeth Martinez, a missing 22-year-old with tattoos matching those found on one of the victims.

An investigation is underway, with authorities considering the possibility that the victims’ bodies were transported to Puerto Vallarta after being murdered elsewhere. No details regarding a suspect have been provided.

These incidents have sparked concerns among American visitors to Mexico, particularly in Puerto Vallarta, known for its beaches and vibrant nightlife, which recently hosted over 40,000 attendees at its Pride event from May 17 to 24.

These tragic events raise alarm for female travelers and residents alike, given the prevalent crimes against women in Mexico. The country grapples with a high rate of female homicides, contributing to a national crisis.

Demonstrators have criticized authorities for their handling of female murder cases, with 3,427 women reportedly killed in 2024, though only 829 classified as femicides.

Motives behind these killings are linked to the pervasive drug and cartel violence in the country, as well as instances of domestic violence resulting in female fatalities.
