Two young children, aged five, along with another individual, are currently in critical condition after a serious accident on the A59 in Lancashire. The incident occurred near Gisburn, leading to a six-hour road closure as emergency responders attended the scene. The casualties, a woman in her 60s and the two young children, were swiftly taken to the hospital and are reported to be in critical condition.
According to Lancs Live, the crash prompted a significant emergency response, with three air ambulances landing in a nearby field and multiple emergency vehicles on site. The collision involved a Skoda Karoq and a Volkswagen Golf R near the junction with Strawberry Fields. The driver of the VW Golf, a man in his 20s, also sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized.
Although the road closure has been lifted and no arrests have been made, Lancashire Police are seeking witnesses and any available footage of the incident. Sgt Anthony Beckett of the Roads Policing Unit emphasized the severity of the collision and urged anyone with relevant information to come forward.
