“Silver Dollar City’s Thunderation Roller Coaster Says Goodbye”

Date:

Silver Dollar City, a well-known theme park nestled in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri, is preparing to bid farewell to one of its most popular attractions. The Thunderation roller coaster, a thrilling ride that was introduced to the park in 1993, will cease operations on January 2, 2027.

Having opened its doors to the public in 1966, Silver Dollar City has grown significantly over the years, now boasting over 40 rides and seven roller coasters. The Thunderation coaster, standing at an impressive 80 feet and reaching speeds of 48 miles per hour, has captured the hearts of many park visitors with its immersive 1880s mine-themed experience.

While the theme park has hinted at upcoming new attractions as part of its expansion plans, no official explanation has been provided for the closure of the Thunderation ride. To commemorate the coaster’s legacy, a range of special memorabilia such as T-shirts, hats, and mugs are available for purchase for those wishing to cherish their memories of the iconic roller coaster.

This news coincides with the closure of other popular theme parks across the United States, including Fun Spot America in Atlanta, Georgia, which will be shutting its doors for the final time on August 2.
