“Snow Alert: Multiple British Cities Brace for Weekend Flurries”

Date:

Latest weather models indicate that residents in multiple British cities might encounter snowfall over the upcoming weekend.

According to the GFS model, a weather system is set to approach from the Atlantic early on Saturday, initially bringing rain to areas like Wales and the south-west. The precipitation is anticipated to transition to snow, starting in Scotland and potentially spreading to southern regions as wintry showers later in the morning.

Forecast maps for 6am highlight snowfall across large portions of Wales, the north-west of England, and parts of Scotland, with chances of light snow reaching the south-west of England.

By 9am, the maps show additional snowfall in the Midlands and the north-east of England. The data suggests that approximately 12 major cities could witness snow during this period.

Snow coverage projections indicate that most of Scotland, northern England, and Wales might experience some snowflakes settling, but accumulations are expected to be less than 1cm, except in Scottish hill areas.

The Met Office forecasts a maximum temperature of 15C in southern regions on the following day, a significant drop from the high of 26C witnessed earlier in the week.

Saturday’s Met Office forecast indicates rain clearing from central and western areas, followed by showers, particularly heavy in Northern Ireland and western Scotland. The day is expected to be windy with coastal gales in the west, and temperatures near seasonal norms.

According to BBC Weather, Saturday will commence with cloud cover and a chance of showers in western UK regions. The day is anticipated to start cloudy with rain moving towards the south-east and showers in the west. Later in the afternoon, showers may persist with some sunny intervals, especially in the west.

Sunday is expected to be breezy with sunny spells and showers, more frequent in the north and west, possibly turning thundery later in the day. Monday is predicted to have easing winds, a mix of sun and showers mainly in the north, while Tuesday is likely to remain predominantly dry until evening rain reaches Northern Ireland.
