“Snow to Sweep Across 27 UK Cities, Minimal Accumulations Forecasted”

Date:

Weather forecasts indicate that up to 27 cities in the UK may experience snowfall in the upcoming days. The GFS weather model predicts that snow will initially fall in the Midlands, north-west England, and northern Scotland by 6 am on April 26, with Birmingham being one of the cities in line for potential snow showers.

By 9 am on the same day, the snow is expected to spread widely across the UK, affecting areas just north of London, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the far north of Scotland, including parts of Yorkshire.

Midday maps for April 26 show snowfall across northern England, the Midlands, a large portion of Wales, and most of Scotland, with Liverpool and Manchester also likely to experience snow during this time.

On April 27 around 9 am, the maps suggest heavy snow in the far north of Scotland and northern England, with almost all of Wales covered in snow. Overall, 27 cities across the UK could see snow during this period.

Fortunately, snow accumulations are forecasted to be minimal, with most areas not expecting more than 1cm. The Scottish hills may see significant snowfall, potentially reaching up to six inches.

While temperatures are expected to be warm later in the month, the Met Office warns of “unsettled” conditions. The forecast for April 19 to 28 indicates a mix of showers, dry spells, warm sunshine, and the possibility of rain or showers towards the end of the period.
