Britain is preparing for an intense snowfall expected later this month as indicated by weather maps. This snowy forecast comes right around the time Spring is supposed to start. Just recently, the UK enjoyed its warmest day of 2025, with temperatures reaching 19.2C in Northolt near Heathrow in West London. The nation reveled in clear blue skies and much-awaited sunshine.
However, wintry conditions are set to return dramatically, with weather maps showing that 11 British cities will soon be covered in snow. Extending over 597 miles from Kirkwall in Scotland down to Birmingham, the late winter storm is looming.
The WXCHARTS weather maps are now displaying purple and white hues, signaling an impending significant snowfall. The snow is predicted to hit the country starting midnight on March 20, with temperatures dropping below freezing levels across the board.
By 6 am, snowfall is expected to commence, with most of Scotland likely to be buried under snow. Perth and Kinross, along with Stirling, are forecasted to receive 5mm of snow per hour, according to reports.
In addition, Angus and Aberdeenshire are likely to be covered with 5cm of snow. Snow depths in the North West and North East of England could also reach 5cm.
The Scottish Highlands may see up to 15cm of snow accumulation, while Argyll and Bute could experience even deeper snowfalls of 16cm. Perth and Kinross might be blanketed with 8cm of snow, and Stirling could receive 9cm of snowfall.
Across northern England, snow depths are expected to hit 5cm, with potentially heavier snowfalls of up to 6cm in certain parts of the Midlands. Major cities like Blackpool, Manchester, and Birmingham are also likely to see snowfall.
