Solo Hiker Rescued After Fall: Grateful Family Seeks Support

Date:

A woman hiking alone in Washington state was found injured after a fall that led to significant head injuries. Jacque Tietijen, an experienced mountaineer, was climbing Bridal Veil Falls when the accident occurred. Two fellow hikers discovered her unconscious at the base of a slope, following a trail of blood. They provided immediate assistance by wrapping her in their coats to regulate her body temperature. Jacque was airlifted to Utah Valley Hospital, where she is receiving treatment for brain bleeds, skull fractures, and a tear in her carotid artery.

Jacque’s family expressed gratitude to the hikers who found her, emphasizing that their quick action likely saved her life. She is currently under observation in the hospital, with the possibility of emergency surgery to relieve swelling in her brain. Despite her extensive hiking experience, the incident was a shock to her family. A fundraising campaign has been launched to support Jacque’s medical expenses, as she remains in intensive care with sedation to monitor brain swelling.

The family remains hopeful for Jacque’s recovery, acknowledging the challenging road ahead. She is expected to spend time in the ICU before being transferred to the neurology unit. Their primary concern now is ensuring that financial burdens do not hinder her healing process.
