“Surrey County Council Offers £300 Supermarket Vouchers to Vulnerable Families”

Date:

Hundreds of households in Surrey may receive complimentary supermarket vouchers valued at £300 to assist with living expenses. The initiative is part of the Household Support Fund provided by Surrey County Council to aid vulnerable families.

Residents of Surrey County Council can apply for the Everyday Essentials E-Voucher program if they are facing challenges in affording essential items and food. These vouchers are redeemable at various supermarkets, including Aldi, Asda, Farmfoods, Iceland, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and Waitrose.

To be eligible for the scheme, applicants must be over 18 years old, reside in Surrey, maintain household savings not exceeding £2,000 over a 90-day period, and have an annual household income below £27,007.50 before taxes and deductions.

Applicants are required to disclose their income details and household benefit receipts. Voucher applications open monthly, with the upcoming round available starting February 3. If the current month’s application window is missed, reapplication is possible from March 2.

For individuals outside Surrey facing financial difficulties, it is advisable to inquire with their local council regarding available support. Nottingham City Council, for instance, is distributing £100 vouchers to low-income individuals or those receiving benefits. The distribution of these vouchers may extend until February 28, 2026.

The allocation of 10,000 vouchers to eligible households will be random, not on a first-come, first-serve basis. Even those who previously received a council voucher starting from April 2025 can apply.

Additionally, Wakefield Council is providing food vouchers to low-income households receiving council tax assistance. Pensioners receiving Council Tax Support were issued £70 vouchers in November, with more vouchers forthcoming for other households.

Families receiving Council Tax Support will receive a £50 voucher from December 15. Other households receiving Council Tax Support will be granted a £70 voucher between December 3 and December 12.

Moreover, Blackpool Council is distributing £200 energy assistance to eligible households of one or two individuals, including children. Households with three or more individuals, including children, qualify for a £300 award.

Applicants must demonstrate financial hardship and difficulty in bill payment to claim the support. Submission of recent bank statements for all household members is mandatory.
