A teen is facing murder charges for allegedly fatally stabbing his older brother during an argument sparked by a video game, leading to a tragic outcome. William Spencer, aged 19, was taken into custody by the Oklahoma City Police Department following the death of his brother, Nicholas Spencer, 25, who was discovered with severe stab wounds at their residence in Del City, Oklahoma.
According to the OCPD, officers responded to a domestic stabbing call on January 18 and found Nicholas injured. Initial investigations indicated that the brothers were engaged in playing a video game when William became enraged and allegedly stabbed Nicholas.
Master Sargeant Rob Robertson of the OCPD revealed that the initial report to the authorities mentioned a stabbing incident involving the brothers. Nicholas was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. William was arrested on-site and subsequently charged with murder after being interrogated.
Authorities stated that the two siblings were playing video games together when an argument escalated, resulting in the fatal stabbing. The OCPD emphasized the tragic nature of the incident, with Master Sargeant Gary Knight labeling it as a heartbreaking story of siblings playing games, culminating in a deadly outcome.
Although details about the specific game being played were not disclosed, it is unclear if their parents were present during the altercation. William remained at the scene and was apprehended before being incarcerated at the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a first-degree murder charge with a bail set at $10 million (£7.3 million).
The 19-year-old confessed to the crime, leading to his detention at the Oklahoma County Jail. His case is scheduled to be heard in court at a later date. Meanwhile, the OCPD has urged anyone with information regarding the incident to contact their Homicide Tip Line for assistance.
