A 15-year-old girl named Chanelle Alvarez from Utah was tragically shot in the head at close range by her 16-year-old boyfriend, identified as Hezekiah Plummer. The incident occurred in Ogden, north of Salt Lake City, early on Saturday, October 18. Chanelle was found dead in her bedroom by a family member who heard the gunshot and witnessed Plummer fleeing with a gun in hand down the stairs.
According to reports, Plummer mentioned something about a “robbery” involving another individual before the fatal shooting. He was later apprehended in a nearby county carrying over $4,000 and a small amount of marijuana. Police disclosed that he had disposed of the firearm prior to being caught. Chanelle’s mother recounted that Plummer arrived at their residence around 1 am on that fateful morning.
Plummer has been charged with first-degree murder, obstruction of justice, and theft of a firearm, and will face trial as an adult. A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist Chanelle’s family with funeral expenses, expressing deep sorrow over her untimely passing at such a young age.
Described as having a spirited personality with a charming smile and infectious laughter, Chanelle’s family emphasized that her death was a result of domestic violence, a tragedy they hope will raise awareness and protection for others. She was an active member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Ogden, where she was known for her vibrant presence and compassionate nature, attending summer camps regularly.
The church’s pastor, Jeff Stephenson, fondly remembered Chanelle as a remarkable and vibrant young woman full of life and kindness. He highlighted her caring attitude and insatiable curiosity towards life.
