A teenage girl has been taken into custody by authorities for allegedly contaminating meals prepared for her parents and cousin with a toxic substance called chumbinho, all stemming from being forbidden to see a boyfriend. The incident occurred in Nova Serrana, Minas Gerais, Brazil, on January 7, where the 17-year-old confessed to adding the poison to three meals cooked by her mother for her parents and cousin.
The girl’s actions followed a disagreement with her parents, leading her to take the meals prepared by her mother and mix in the poison intended for rodents. Major Renato Geraldo da Silva of the Military Police stated that the girl mentioned the poison container was already in the house, and she carried out the act after a confrontation following her leaving home without permission.
Upon consuming one of the contaminated meals, the cousin noticed an unusual texture and stopped eating. The parents were alerted and did not ingest the food, while the cousin sought medical assistance, underwent treatment, and remains in stable condition. The girl confessed that her actions were fueled by anger due to her parents’ disapproval of her romantic relationship.
Forensic teams collected samples of the meals and the toxic substance for analysis, as the case remains under investigation by the Civil Police. The teenager, whose identity has not been disclosed, is currently under police custody and is cooperating with the authorities.
