A school in Nottingham was surrounded by a large police cordon following a stabbing incident involving a 15-year-old boy. The attack took place at Nottingham University Academy of Science and Technology (NUAST) on Dunkirk Road, with Nottinghamshire Police responding to the scene around 1:30 pm.
The injured teenager was quickly taken to Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment of serious injuries, with witnesses reporting the arrival of an air ambulance. Another 15-year-old teenager has been apprehended in connection with the incident. Authorities confirmed that both the victim and the suspect are acquainted with each other, assuring that there is no imminent danger to other students at the school.
Superintendent Chris Pearson expressed concern about the incident occurring on school premises, emphasizing collaboration with NUSA. The injured boy’s family is receiving support from specialized officers during the ongoing investigation. Police clarified that the incident is not linked to the national ‘School Wars’ social media posts.
Parents criticized the lack of communication from authorities following the incident, attributing the challenge to the restriction on students’ mobile phone usage. Despite knowing that his children were safe, a parent shared the anxiety of waiting for updates outside the school.
The school implemented a two-hour lockdown as a precautionary measure after the stabbing incident. Police presence remained heavy at the scene, with investigations ongoing. Concerned parents awaited confirmation about their children’s safety, highlighting the importance of effective communication during such emergencies.
