Search efforts are ongoing for a teenage girl who disappeared in the sea five days ago. Grace Keeling, aged 15, remains missing after falling into the water at Withernsea on Friday. Tragically, her mother, Sarah Keeling, and a passerby named Mark Ratcliffe, who tried to rescue her, also lost their lives in the incident.
Humberside Police provided an update today, revealing that they have been diligently investigating the circumstances of the tragedy. Through analyzing CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses, authorities have determined that Grace and her friend were near the rocks when she was swept into the water by a wave.
Chief Inspector Tom Stevens expressed the heartbreaking nature of the event and emphasized the support being offered to the families of Sarah and Mark. The primary focus now is on locating Grace, with extensive shoreline and drone searches being conducted from Withernsea to Easington. Specialized teams, including an underwater search unit and an oceanographer, have been mobilized to enhance search efforts.
