A 17-year-old teenager has tragically lost his life in a stabbing incident in London, with three adolescents taken into custody as part of a murder inquiry.
Jamal Coombes was discovered by paramedics with severe wounds after authorities were alerted to a stabbing on Glycena Road in Battersea at approximately 4:20 am on Saturday, June 20.
Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Jamal was declared dead at the scene. His family has been notified and is receiving support from specialized officers.
Two 15-year-olds, a boy, and a girl, were apprehended on Saturday on suspicion of murder, while a 14-year-old boy was arrested the subsequent day, Sunday, June 21, also on suspicion of the same crime.
All three suspects are currently under police custody, as confirmed by the Metropolitan Police.
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie expressed condolences to Jamal’s family and acknowledged the impact of the incident on the local community. He encouraged individuals with any information to approach patrolling officers in the area.
The public is urged by Det Ch Insp Howie to come forward with any details they may possess, as it is believed the stabbing occurred following a dispute. Anyone who observed a group of men running in the Lavender Hill vicinity between 3:30 am and 5 am, particularly around Glycen Road, Acanthus Road, and Pountney Road, is requested to provide their account.
Det Ch Insp Howie stressed the significance of even seemingly minor information, stating that CCTV, doorbell, or mobile phone footage could offer crucial evidence. He also emphasized that no detail should be assumed as already shared, as every piece of information could be vital to the investigation.
