Human remains thought to be those of a missing teenager have been discovered in a river, prompting a murder investigation. Taylor Charlton, aged 15, was last seen on May 8 near Tarka Leisure Centre and the Seven Brethren car park in Barnstaple, Devon. He was observed heading towards the River Taw, and search efforts have been ongoing for the past six weeks.
The human remains were found in the river close to Sticklepath on Thursday, June 25. Police responded to the scene on Wednesday around 4:20 pm when the remains were retrieved from the water. While formal identification is pending, Taylor’s family has been notified of the situation. Devon and Cornwall Police have urged the local community to refrain from speculation and await updates from law enforcement.
A 20-year-old man was arrested on June 12 on suspicion of murder in connection to this case and has since been released on police bail. Authorities will maintain a presence around the river as further investigations are conducted by emergency services.
