Iranian missiles targeted the US Ali Al Salem airbase in Kuwait, as well as Jordan’s Muwaffaq Salti air base and a US base in Erbil, northern Iraq. The turmoil unfolded as large crowds mourned the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Iraq and Iran.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Tehran confirmed launching retaliatory strikes on US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, labeling them as the initial phase of punishment against the US. Iran’s parliamentary speaker criticized the US for its bullying tactics and failure to uphold agreements, warning that any attack on Iran would be met with a response. The situation escalated as the US and Iran exchanged missile strikes for a second consecutive night, with President Trump declaring an end to the ceasefire during the NATO conference in Turkey.
The recent US attacks targeted various locations in Iran, including bridges such as the Aq Qala Bridge, leading to casualties. The Ministry of Health in Iran reported 14 fatalities and 78 injuries from the recent hostilities. Hossein Kermanpour, head of public relations at the ministry, stated that the attacks over July 8 and 9 affected five provinces, with 47 individuals still hospitalized.
