“Terminal Man’s Final Wish: Return Home for Rest”

Date:

A family is in a race against time to fulfill the final wish of a terminally ill man to return home and be laid to rest with his family. Clive Thompson, 56, a former door-to-door salesman diagnosed with lung cancer, is currently receiving end-of-life care in a hospice in Dublin. After being out of touch with his family for 15 years, Clive expressed his desire to reunite with them in Hattersley, Tameside, and be buried at Hyde Cemetery.

To make Clive’s wish a reality, his family has initiated a fundraising campaign to cover the expenses of a specialized ambulance to transport him from Dublin to Greater Manchester. Cherelle Thompson, Clive’s niece leading the campaign, shared that Clive had initially fought off lung cancer in 2024, but the disease resurfaced aggressively, spreading to his brain and bones. She emphasized Clive’s wish to be surrounded by his family in Manchester during his final days.

The family has set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for the high-dependency ambulance and clinical team needed to safely transport Clive across the Irish Sea, with a target of £6,000. Cherelle noted that the fundraising efforts had stalled and appealed for one last push to reach the goal. She highlighted Clive’s unwavering spirit and his strong desire to return home to Manchester to be with his loved ones.

For those willing to contribute to Clive’s journey, the fundraising page can be accessed by clicking on the provided link.
