Tesco to Open 70+ Express Stores in UK

Tesco plans to open over 70 new Express stores in the UK by converting former Amazon Fresh sites. The rebranding of these sites, including locations in London like Kensington High Street, Hounslow, Moorgate, Aldgate East, and Wembley, is expected to be completed by March next year. Amazon had closed its 19 Fresh stores in September last year.

Nick Johnson, Tesco Group Property Director, expressed enthusiasm about expanding their store network to cater to more communities. The company aims to provide quality products, great value, and excellent customer service as they grow.

Meanwhile, households in Worcestershire are encouraged to check if they qualify for up to £500 in energy bill support provided by Worcestershire County Council. Eligibility criteria include residing in specific districts and meeting income and vulnerability thresholds.

In other news, nurseries have been cautioned against charging parents additional fees for free childcare hours. The Department of Education has issued updated guidelines requiring that free hours come with no hidden charges, with optional extras clearly priced and parents given the choice to opt out without losing their free place.

Parcel locker company InPost has agreed to be acquired by a consortium led by FedEx and Advent for €7.8 billion (£6.8 billion). The deal is expected to enhance InPost’s presence in various European markets, including the UK, where they plan to expand their locker and pick-up points.

Moreover, Superdrug is set to open 30 new stores across the UK, generating approximately 600 jobs. The stores will feature Superdrug Beauty Studios offering various treatments. Wetherspoon boss Tim Martin has supported Nigel Farage’s proposals to aid pubs, while NatWest Group has acquired wealth management firm Evelyn Partners for £2.7 billion.

Lastly, a survey by Which? revealed that many people feel unprepared for retirement, with some individuals preferring tasks like going to the dentist or cleaning the bathroom over planning for their retirement. Jenny Ross, Which? Money editor, highlighted the importance of pension savings planning to ensure financial security in the future.
