Tiger Woods, aged 50, has entered a not guilty plea following his arrest post a two-vehicle rollover incident in Florida. The renowned golfer, a 15-time major champion, faces charges related to driving under the influence with property damage and refusal to undergo a lawful test.
The crash occurred when Woods tried to overtake a tow truck on a narrow road, causing his dark SUV to flip onto its side. Although he registered 0.00 on a breathalyzer test, he chose not to undergo a urinalysis. Subsequently, he spent eight hours in Martin County Jail before being released and returning home.
TMZ initially reported Woods’ guilty plea based on court records accessed by lawyer Douglas Duncan, who will represent him. This news emerged shortly after Donald Trump, speaking to the New York Post, expressed his belief that Woods is “doing great” and highlighted the golfer’s negative alcohol test results amid his physical challenges.
Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek clarified that there were no suspicions of alcohol involvement in the crash, as indicated by Woods’ breathalyzer results. The incident was reported by Jupiter Island Police Department, prompting an investigation that led to Woods being charged with DUI, property damage, and refusal to comply with a lawful test.
Budensiek outlined the events of the crash, emphasizing that despite the initial impression of impairment, no injuries were sustained by either Woods or the other party involved. The sheriff noted that Woods, known for his athletic prowess, demonstrated signs of impairment during roadside tests, leading to his arrest and subsequent detainment at Martin County Jail.
