Authorities in the United States have reported that the mother of Today show host Savannah Guthrie was taken from her residence in the middle of the night in a suspected kidnapping.
Nancy Guthrie, aged 84, was last seen at her home in Catalina Foothills, north of Tucson, Arizona, around 9:30 pm local time on Saturday. Police now consider her residence a crime scene and believe she was forcefully taken from the premises.
Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated that initial investigations suggest that Nancy was abducted from her home against her will, possibly during the night. Given Nancy’s limited mobility, authorities suspect foul play occurred on that Saturday evening.
Sheriff Nanos expressed concern over the situation, noting Nancy’s mental acuity and asserting that she did not leave the house voluntarily. Law enforcement is collaborating with various vendors to review security footage and analyze potential biological evidence found at the scene.
Savannah Guthrie previously shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, praising her mother on her birthday and expressing gratitude for her presence in her life. Fans of the journalist have offered assistance in the investigation, although police emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the ongoing inquiry.
Nancy, a resident of Arizona and grandmother of at least two, was reported missing after failing to attend her regular church service on Sunday morning.
