Toto Wolff: Hamilton’s Ferrari Years Won’t Shine

Date:

Toto Wolff predicts that Lewis Hamilton’s final years with Ferrari will not be memorable. The 40-year-old British driver is aiming to secure an eighth drivers’ title with Ferrari before retiring from Formula 1. However, achieving this goal seems challenging as Hamilton has yet to reach an F1 podium with Ferrari, despite claiming victory in a sprint race in Shanghai earlier this year.

Despite the current struggles at Ferrari, Hamilton’s legacy as one of the greatest F1 drivers is undeniable. With 105 Grand Prix victories, he stands as one of the two seven-time champions alongside Michael Schumacher. Notably, Hamilton achieved much of his success during his 12-year tenure as a Mercedes driver, winning multiple titles under the leadership of Toto Wolff.

Wolff remains confident in Hamilton’s legacy, emphasizing that his time at Ferrari will not overshadow his remarkable career achievements. Drawing parallels to Schumacher’s winless period with Mercedes, Wolff believes that Hamilton’s success with Mercedes outweighs any challenges faced with Ferrari.

Hamilton, while admitting to struggles adapting to his new team, continues to push forward. Despite a recent positive performance at the Italian Grand Prix where he finished sixth after starting from 10th due to a penalty, Hamilton expressed his discomfort in the Ferrari car.

Wolff, reflecting on Hamilton’s move to Ferrari, stands by the decision, highlighting the need for change and acknowledging Ferrari’s appeal to every racing driver. He believes Hamilton’s frustrations will diminish with time, anticipating a resurgence in his performance with the Italian team.
