“Tragic Death of 9-Year-Old Girl in Arbroath”

Date:

A young girl, Minnie Merriman, aged nine, passed away following a severe injury at Arbroath’s Elliot Industrial Estate in the early hours of Monday. Despite immediate medical attention at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.

Three individuals were hospitalized and later discharged, while a 35-year-old man has been apprehended and charged in connection with Minnie’s tragic demise. Authorities revealed that the man and Minnie were acquainted with each other. The suspect is scheduled to appear in court today, according to reports from the Daily Record.

The deceased girl’s family, originally from West Yorkshire, were camping in the area at the time of the incident. The family issued a statement requesting privacy during this challenging period, mourning the loss of their cherished Minnie Moo as a devastating blow.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding Minnie’s death are ongoing. Witnesses observed the family engaged in outdoor cooking activities hours before the girl’s passing. Additionally, another witness noted a tent near a vehicle, describing it as an unusual arrangement.

The industrial estate, situated amidst residential areas, a retail park, and Arbroath seafront, is a bustling locale with nearby caravan sites, although it remains unclear if the girl and her family had stayed at any of these sites prior to the tragic event.

Local residents expressed shock and sorrow over the incident, with one resident highlighting the busy nature of the area during the day. Authorities have established a significant cordon around the crime scene for investigative purposes, with specific items such as a blue electric Peugeot and a forensic tent being scrutinized.

Detective Inspector Mike Ness of the Major Investigation Team extended sympathies to all those affected, especially Minnie’s family, emphasizing that police presence will persist in the area as inquiries progress. Concerned individuals or those with information are urged to contact Police Scotland via the provided incident number.
