Tragic Details Emerge in UK Woman’s US Murder

Date:

An examination has revealed details about the tragic final moments of a British woman who purportedly traveled to the United States with the aim of being killed by a man she met on a fetish website.

The body of Sonia Exelby, a 32-year-old woman from Portsmouth, Hampshire, was discovered in a wooded area in Marion Oaks, Florida, several days after she missed her return flight to the UK on October 13. Investigators disclosed that Sonia had left digital evidence suggesting suicidal intentions and a journey to the US for potential abuse, torture, and murder.

Following the retrieval of Sonia’s remains from a shallow grave, Florida authorities arrested Dwain Hall on charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping. According to an autopsy report obtained by The Mirror, it was unveiled that Sonia was fatally stabbed four times, sustaining injuries to multiple organs including her aorta, esophagus, stomach, spleen, pancreas, and left kidney. The report, finalized on November 4, confirmed that Sonia’s death resulted from the stab wounds to her torso, officially classified as a homicide.

The autopsy report indicated that Sonia had sustained stab wounds ranging from four to seven inches deep, along with a distinctive “dried, red-orange, ‘V’-shaped abrasion.” Furthermore, a toxicology report revealed the probable presence of cannabinoids in Sonia’s system, along with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.064.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, a blood alcohol level between 0.05% and 0.08% could lead to decreased inhibition, reduced alertness, and impaired judgment in an individual. The disclosed documents were shared with The Mirror as part of the Discovery process in preparation for the upcoming trial to gather factual information.

Sonia’s family disclosed her ongoing mental health struggles and her trip to the US on October 10. Hall was apprehended after allegedly attempting to use Sonia’s credit cards. He initially denied any knowledge of Sonia but later admitted to picking her up and driving her to an Airbnb.

License plate readers indicated Hall’s vehicle was present at Gainesville Airport around Sonia’s arrival time. During police questioning, Hall reportedly admitted to discussing bondage, suicide, and Sonia’s request for someone to end her life.

Attorney Julia Williamson, representing Hall, stated that he is scheduled to appear in court in February, emphasizing his plea of not guilty until the evidence against him is presented. She expressed condolences to Sonia’s loved ones, adding that Hall will maintain his right to remain silent regarding the allegations for the time being.
