“Tragic Drowning at World Cup Viewing: Community Rallies for Family”

Date:

A tragic incident unfolded as a young child lost his life at a World Cup viewing event due to what authorities suspect was an accidental drowning. The 8-year-old, identified as Taylor Thach, became unresponsive during the gathering at a friend’s residence in California.

Emergency responders were swiftly summoned to the scene around 7:30 pm on 12 June where Taylor was discovered. Despite efforts to revive him, the child was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital.

The heartbreaking episode took place at a residence in El Segundo, California, leading to Taylor being transferred to Harbor-UCLA Medical Centre, where he subsequently passed away.

Eric Atkinson, an Investigations Lieutenant at El Segundo Police Department, indicated that all indications pointed towards accidental drowning, pending the completion of an autopsy. Authorities are currently gathering statements from attendees of the World Cup get-together.

In the wake of the tragedy, the local community initiated a GoFundMe campaign to aid Taylor’s grieving family. Surpassing the initial $5,000 goal, the fundraiser has amassed over $83,000 within just four days, with the entirety of the proceeds designated for Taylor’s mother Sokunthea, father Somnang, and brother Jordan Thach.

Taylor is fondly remembered for his compassionate demeanor and amiable nature. A neighbor who launched the fundraiser expressed deep sorrow over Taylor’s untimely demise, highlighting his positive impact within the school community and beyond.

The community struggles to comprehend the profound loss and has rallied to support the Thach family during this trying period. Contributions, regardless of size, are greatly appreciated to assist the family with immediate expenses and allow them the necessary time to grieve and honor Taylor’s memory.

Keeping the Thach family, along with Taylor’s peers and loved ones, in thoughts and prayers is encouraged. Sharing the fundraiser page to perpetuate Taylor’s memory is also appreciated as the community mourns the loss of a beloved individual who will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
