A tragic incident took place in Lanzarote, where a four-year-old British girl drowned in a hotel swimming pool at the Playa Blanca resort around 1.30pm on Saturday, June 20. Despite efforts from ambulances, police, and an emergency services helicopter, the girl could not be saved.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death, led by the Civil Guard. Initial reports suggest that there is no indication of foul play involved in the incident.
According to a spokesperson from the Canary Islands Government’s Emergency and Security Coordination Centre, a distress call was received at 1.30pm reporting the girl’s drowning. Despite immediate mobilization of emergency resources, including a nurse instructing resuscitation attempts, the girl tragically succumbed to the incident.
In a separate incident, a three-year-old British boy lost his life on Wednesday, June 17, after falling into a swimming pool at a holiday home near Costa del Sol in southern Spain. The boy’s family had just checked into the rental property the day before the tragic incident occurred in the village of Periana.
The Periana Council expressed deep sympathy for the family, acknowledging the immense grief and offering love and support during this difficult time. The community stands in solidarity with the family, sharing in their sorrow over the heartbreaking loss.
