A witness reacted with shock and horror following the tragic death of a three-month-old infant reportedly attacked by a dog.
The community in Dormanstown, North Yorkshire, was left devastated by the loss of the baby girl in what was suspected to be a fatal dog attack. Neighbors described the incident as incredibly distressing and horrifying.
Emergency responders were called to the scene where the baby was found deceased. Authorities are currently investigating the incident and have stated that the death is being treated as a result of a dog bite. One witness was heard urgently calling for help for the baby upon discovering the tragic scene.
Residents in the area expressed their sorrow over the incident, with one individual mentioning their concern for shielding their own family from witnessing the distressing aftermath.
During the incident, armed officers were seen on the scene, and one of the dogs involved was shot, while the other was captured and later euthanized.
A police statement revealed that the dogs were not of a prohibited breed after assessment by a specialist. Witnesses described the dogs as “pocket bully” types.
One resident, Scarlett Calvert, recounted returning home to the commotion with her young son, only to witness the events unfold with police and ambulances present.
Following the incident, a 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being in control of a dangerously out-of-control dog, leading to the tragic outcome. He has since been released on conditional bail after questioning.
