Tragic Sisters’ Mysterious Seaside Demise

Date:

Three siblings tragically found deceased on Brighton seafront had previously experienced a similar family sorrow when their mother passed away from drowning. The sisters, identified as Jane Adetoro, 36, Christina Walters, 32, and Rebecca Walters, 31, were swept away from the shore at 5:45 am last Wednesday.

According to relatives, the women, hailing from Uxbridge, North West London, were not known to be heading to Brighton that morning. However, there is speculation that they might have been commemorating the memory of their mother, who also died by drowning in Birmingham at the age of 43.

The family disclosed that Janice, the mother of the sisters, had faced mental health challenges and disappeared from her home in Erdington, Birmingham, in the early hours of the morning. The incident reportedly occurred in either 2010 or 2012, conflicting reports suggest.

As preparations are made for an inquest into the sisters’ demise at Brighton coroner’s court on May 29, more details about their lives have surfaced. Jane worked as an accountant, Christina had recently graduated from Brunel University, and Rebecca was remembered as the mischievous baby and lively jokester of the family.

Authorities are seeking information to determine the circumstances surrounding the sisters’ deaths. One theory is that the sisters, found fully clothed, may have been paddling and accidentally slipped off a shingle coastal shelf.

The sisters’ aunt, Ajike Adetoro, emphasized that the women were content in the period leading up to the incident and that the family is devastated by unfounded speculations, such as suggestions of foul play or a racist attack. Contrary to rumors, she clarified that the sisters did not indulge in alcohol, smoking, clubbing, or social media activities.

Despite emergency responders’ efforts, the siblings could not be saved after reports of a woman in distress in the sea. The sisters’ father, Joseph, released a statement expressing profound sorrow over the loss of his daughters, highlighting their positive impact on the family.

Joseph’s heartfelt tribute to his daughters conveyed the lasting impact of their presence in his life and the cherished memories they shared. He described each sister individually, emphasizing their unique qualities and the everlasting love they will be remembered with.

Authorities, under Operation Ledmore, are urging anyone who may have seen the sisters in the Madeira Drive area between 10 pm on Tuesday, May 12, and 5:30 am on Wednesday, May 13, to come forward with information. Sussex Police reiterated that the investigation is ongoing and there is currently no evidence of third-party involvement or criminal activity.
