A 16-year-old boy tragically passed away shortly after consuming ice cream with his friends. Adriano D’Orsi and his companions visited their usual ice cream parlor on the way home after an evening out on Saturday, May 16. The teenager began experiencing severe respiratory symptoms after eating some gelato. Seeking help, he was quickly taken by his friends to his father Mauro D’Orsi’s residence.
His father urgently attempted to save his son’s life by administering cortisone, a treatment for allergies, but unfortunately, it was ineffective. When emergency services reached Casoria, Italy, Adriano was already unconscious, and efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Adriano, who had a severe milk protein allergy, went into anaphylactic shock. His family mentioned that he was always cautious about avoiding milk products in his diet. Although the 16-year-old supposedly consumed dairy-free fruit ice cream, traces of milk might have contaminated it, possibly from the serving scoop or ice cream machine.
His mother, Antonietta Esposito, disclosed to local media that Adriano had unexplained episodes since childhood, which later led to the discovery of his allergy. Despite his precautions in reading food labels before consumption, this unfortunate incident occurred.
Authorities have confiscated multiple tubs of ice cream from the gelateria as part of an ongoing inquiry. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to ascertain the exact cause of death. Adriano was a third-year student at the nautical institute in Bagnoli and aspired to become a ship captain.
Antonietta emotionally honored her son, expressing his dreams to travel the world together, now shattered. She described Adriano as an exceptional and cherished son, lamenting the loss of his promising future.
