The Original Factory Shop has recently appointed administrators from Interpath Advisory, becoming one of the latest retailers to take this step. This decision puts 137 stores and 1,180 jobs in jeopardy. While the physical stores remain operational as usual for now, the online operations have been suspended.
Facing challenges such as high cost inflation, escalating labor expenses, and reduced consumer spending, The Original Factory Shop has encountered financial difficulties. Complications with its third-party warehouse and logistics partner have further exacerbated the situation. Established in 1969, the company was acquired by Modella Capital last year.
Rick Harrison, the managing director at Interpath and joint administrator, expressed regret over the necessity to place The Original Factory Shop into administration due to trading obstacles. The administrators plan to collaborate with the company’s dedicated team to maintain store operations and evaluate potential business strategies in the following weeks.
