“Trump Rejects Khamenei’s Son for Iran Leader Role”

Date:

Donald Trump has emphasized his desire to play a personal role in the selection of Iran’s next leader and has criticized the potential appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the late supreme leader Ali Khamenei.

Expressing his disapproval, Trump labeled Khamenei’s son as unfit for the role, stating that his involvement in the decision-making process is crucial, drawing a comparison to his stance on Delcy Rodriguez in Venezuela.

In response to reports suggesting the imminent announcement of Khamenei’s successor, Trump vehemently rejected the idea of a new leader perpetuating Khamenei’s policies, which he believes could lead to conflict with the US in the future.

Trump asserted that he seeks a leader for Iran who can bring unity and peace to the nation, signaling his desire for substantial influence over Iran’s political landscape in the coming years.

While US officials have denied aiming for regime change, focusing instead on weakening Iran’s military capabilities, Mojtaba Khamenei, the second-oldest son of the late Ayatollah, is seen as the likely candidate for the position of Supreme Leader.

Donald Trump had previously remarked on the lack of viable leadership options in Iran, expressing concern about the potential consequences of a poorly chosen successor. He stressed the importance of an internal figure taking charge once military actions commence.
