A tragic school shooting incident in Turkey has resulted in at least four deaths and numerous injuries, according to local authorities. The violent episode occurred at Ayser Çalık Middle School in Kahramanmaraş, as confirmed by the governor of the region, Mükerrem Ünlüer. Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, where it was verified that four individuals had lost their lives. The perpetrator’s identity remains unknown at this time.
Following the attack, Turkey’s Justice Minister Akın Gürlek initiated an immediate investigation, with prosecutors actively examining the site. Gürlek emphasized the importance of maintaining confidentiality during the inquiry process and assured that pertinent details would be disclosed by the appropriate authorities.
This unfortunate incident marks the second school shooting in Turkey within a span of two days. The previous day, a 17-year-old student opened fire at Ahmet Koyuncu Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in the Siverek district, injuring sixteen individuals before taking his own life. Governor Hasan Sildak provided details on the incident, stating that the attacker was a former student of the school.
Law enforcement and medical personnel swiftly responded to the scene, with reports indicating that the attacker had entered the school premises with a shotgun and commenced firing randomly. The Interior Ministry of Turkey confirmed that the assailant from the previous day’s shooting had been identified and disclosed that a total of ten students, four teachers, one police officer, and one canteen worker sustained injuries during the violent episode.
