A twisted murderer was apprehended after dismembering his victims and discarding their body parts near the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge.
Yostin Andres Mosquera, a 35-year-old adult film actor, viciously killed Alberto Alfonso, 62, by slashing his throat during a documented sexual encounter in Shepherd’s Bush, West London, on July 8 of the previous year. Prior to this, he fatally assaulted Alfonso’s partner, Paul Longworth, 71, with a hammer and attempted theft from the couple.
Mosquera, a Colombian national, stayed at the victims’ residence before decapitating and dismembering them. He stored their heads in a freezer and transported the rest of their remains to Bristol in suitcases two days later.
His escape was foiled by bridge personnel who noticed a suspicious leak from one of the suitcases he carried. Mosquera was apprehended at Bristol Temple Meads railway station. Initially, he falsely claimed the luggage contained car parts to a passerby.
During the trial, Prosecutor Deanna Heer KC stated that Mosquera premeditated the murders to facilitate theft, using a hammer on Longworth and a knife on Alfonso as weapons.
Describing the filmed murder of Alfonso, Heer mentioned that Mosquera initiated the attack during sexual activity. Following the crime, Mosquera callously danced naked as Alfonso bled out.
Before the killings, the trio had a night out in Brighton, engaging in activities like drinking and zip-lining. Justice Bennathan, during sentencing, highlighted the loving relationship between Longworth and Alfonso, emphasizing the tragedy caused by Mosquera’s intrusion into their lives.
The judge condemned the murders as premeditated and exceptionally wicked. Mosquera was sentenced to 40 years and 264 days in Woolwich Crown Court. Additionally, he pleaded guilty to charges related to child pornography before sentencing.
